June 2008 - Clifton Park Group Travel Award Winners

The Clifton Park Hotel in St Annes scooped a top award at the Group Travel awards, at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Portman Square this weekend. The prestigious awards ceremony, organised by the Group Travel Organiser Magazine recognises the very best in the travel industry, specifically related to group holidays. The awards are voted for by readers of the nationally distributed magazine, culminating in a dinner attended by the very best in the industry. Awards range from best airline for groups, this year won by British Airways, to best hotels and attractions, especially those that go the extra mile to attract, and more importantly, look after groups.

The Clifton Park Hotel in St Annes were finalists in the category, Best Individual Hotel for Groups, beating off stiff competition from hotels all over the country. Readers voted for the hotel due to it’s attention to welcoming groups into the hotel with a cup of tea, very welcome to groups who have been travelling for many miles. Organisers also recognised the hotels commitment to quality, and it’s exceptional levels of service in The Ballroom restaurant. Group organiser, David Smith from Newton le Willows said ‘The Clifton Park Hotel is a unique hotel as far as group travel is concerned. Many hotels segregate the groups from the rest of the hotel, or provide different menus. The Clifton Park Hotel go the extra mile to make the groups feel special, indeed I brought 1 group to the hotel in 2006, this year I have brought 11 groups to the hotel already!’

Director of Sales, Peter Taylor said ‘This award is testimony to the hard work and dedication of all our staff at the hotel. The hotel has gone from strength to strength since the Craigavon Hotel was renovated in 1998. Since then we have increased the number of bedrooms from 23 to 47 through the development of the rear of the property on Orchard Road’.

The Clifton Park Hotel is now a 47 bedroom, 3 star hotel assessed by VisitBritatin. Facilities in the hotel include and indoor swimming pool, luxury changing rooms, gymnasium, ballroom, restaurant, lounge bar and garden areas. New additions include 3 terrace rooms with private terrace balcony’s overlooking the hotel gardens, proving very popular with guests during the summer months.
 

March 2007 - Clifton Park Group 'branches' out at the British Travel Fair 2007

The company behind Clifton Park Hotel and opengolf2007.com celebrated success at this years British Travel Trade Fair in Birmingham. The 2 day event attracted tourism professionals from around the globe, all eager to forge new partnerships and transact business deals. The Clifton Park Hotel based in Lytham St Annes introduced it's new group packages to perspective clients. The innovative group packages such as 'Fantasy Cruise Weekends' and 'Roaring 40's Week' generated a great deal of interest. Director of Sales, Peter Taylor said 'Guests and groups are always looking for something different and innovative, it's up to us to provide it to continue to stay competitive'.

Clifton Park Sporting, providers of accommodation and packages to the Open Golf Championship welcomed visitors from all over the world. Hosted buyers from China and Hong Kong were particularly interested in the Open Championship 2008 to be held at Royal Birkdale, Merseyside. The 2008 championship coincides with Liverpool's Capital of Culture year. Margaret Woolhouse, accommodation and venue manager for Clifton Park Sporting said 'We have had a great deal of interest from the Asian market. Whilst we are very busy with the Carnoustie championship this year, we are finding that the Asian market would like to tie in a visit to the golf championship with a trip to the North West. As well as Liverpool's Capital of Culture year, the Northwest has so much more to offer. Lancashire & Blackpool are getting on board by making 2008 the year of food and drink.

August 2006 - Clifton Park Hotel hits the big screen!

Clifton Park Hotel are continuing to lead the way in innovative and creative marketing by producing their very own DVD film. The DVD was shot at the hotel over a period of a week and is an interactive view of the hotel and it's facilities. General Manager, Derek Slater said 'The DVD gives a real feel of the hotel, something that a standard brochure just cannot do, the film looks fabulous and shows the hotel off really well'.

July 2006 - Clifton Park Hotel plays host to top Golfing Event

Clifton Park Hotel has once again been playing host to a party of top world ranking golfers and event organisers attending this years Weetabix Womens Open Golf Championship. Top lady golfers from as far afield as Korea and USA have rolled up at the hotel with their team to compete in a £1.5million prize pool.

This isn't the first time that Clifton Park Hotel has been involved in world class golfing events, in 2001 the hotel played host to the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in the Open Championship.

June 2006 - Clifton Park hits a four!

Clifton Park Leisure Ltd, the owners of the Clifton Park Hotel, Lytham St Annes have recently formed a new tour operating company Clifton Park Sporting Ltd. The new organisation deals with accommodation for a number of major sporting events, and primarily The Open Championship. The new company products and services can be viewed at www.opengolf2007.com

April 2006 - Double Celebration as the numbers tot up!

Since the Clifton Park Hotel went computerised in 2000 reservations have been on the increase. In 2001 the hotel started using a reservation system called Guestmaster, and to date have just taken the 30,000th reservation on the system. Additionally, at the same time the new cliftonparkbooking system took it's 100th reservation. cliftonparkbooking is an in-house developed reservation system giving the end user 360 degree views and the best rates on the net. Future improvements include online package bookings, and Clifton Park 'extras' a chance to book champagne on arrival, chocolates in the room, or even a hot air balloon breakfast flight. Director of Sales, Peter Taylor said 'The internet holds the key to our future. The website will see major investment over the next 12 months to make it the most comprehensive hotel website on the Fylde coast. Our online booking system has been so successful that we have been approached by a number of hotels to provide the software for their websites.'

March 2006 - Hotel Kitchen Team Expands.
Due to the increase in business from our new rooms the Clifton Park Hotel  have recruited new chef Wesley Aspinall. Wesley joins the hotel from the St. Ives Hotel, St Annes. Wesley has also previously worked for Greens Bistro, one of the top restaurants in Lytham St. Annes. During his interview Wesley explained, ‘I have relatives who praise the food at your hotel and I would like to be a part of the team.’
Wesley will be working in both the Patisserie and Hot-plate sections of the kitchen, alongside our Head Chef Miss Linda Coupe and 2nd Chef Stuart Greenwood. Wesley looks set to become a valued member of the team here at the Clifton Park Hotel, and continue to maintain the high standards of quality we continue to be recognised for.
 

March 2006 - ONLINE BOOKING GENERATES HUGE RESPONSE!

Since the launch of our online booking system we have had a massive response from customers booking directly on-line. In the last few weeks we have taken over 100 bookings, more than we could have ever imagined. There have been a few minor errors along the way and a few little hitches to sort out, so thank you to the customers who are bearing with us on this.

September 2005 - WE SAIL THE HIGH SEAS!

Our recent Cruise Weekend went down a storm. A 3 night break based on the SS Cliftonia sees the hotel transformed into a floating cruise ship for the weekend. Guests become passengers, bedrooms become staterooms, staff become crew and you're set for a great weekend!
